About High School Preparatory Academy

Our Purpose
The High School Preparatory Academy is here to ensure that our eighth grade students are proficient in the core subjects so that they will be prepared for high school. Students can begin high school with the skills, attitudes, and learning behaviors that will give them a boost toward success in school and beyond.

The Highlights

  • The High School Preparatory Academy provides intensive instruction in math, reading and writing and with content review in science and social studies.
  • Core eighth grade curriculum is reviewed and expanded.
  • Math and science are taught so that students explore the whys as well as master how to solve problems accurately.
  • Students learn to read for understanding and write about important global issues.
  • Specific academic skills are targeted to close individual learning gaps.
  • Students learn effective ways to behave and approach social demands in an academic and career setting.
  • Students plan for post-secondary learning and career pathways, identify college options, and explore vocational interests and aptitudes.

Students Will Begin High School with a True Advantage
For students who are not yet academically prepared to attend high school, the High School Preparatory Academy provides more time and opportunity to catch up and get ahead. Harrison School District Two offers differentiated diplomas for graduating high school seniors. Students will need to demonstrate proficient achievement in order to earn a college and career-ready diploma. The High School Preparatory Academy offers students a unique opportunity to enter high school better prepared to earn a college and career-ready diploma.

High School Preparatory Academy is located at Sierra High School and follows the district calendar.  School hours are:
Monday 8:34 a.m. to 2:48 p.m.
Tuesday - Friday 7:18 a.m. to 2:48 p.m.
